Millimeter-Wave Multiplexed Wideband Wireless Link Using Rectangular-Coordinate Orthogonal Multiplexing (ROM) Antennas

This paper is the first demonstration of multiplexed wideband data transmission in millimeter-wave range using rectangular-coordinate orthogonal multiplexing (ROM) antennas. spatial wireless multiplex communication method can be applied at several hundred GHz for further improvements rate because much wider bandwidth available and this does not require any signal processing. The achieved through eigenmodes a novel antenna based on rectangular coordinate system magic-T which eliminates need computational processing efforts. aperture distributions these are designed to have different polarities avoid crosstalk operate over wide range. We demonstrate their performance with four eigenmodes, achieving between modes below −37.8 dB 14.6% relative (57–66 GHz). introduced antennas photonics-enabled real-time transmission, transmitting two channels simultaneously, without transmitter (multiplex) or receiver (demultiplex). show total up 9.0 Gbps most (5.875 3.125 each channel) limited by low noise amplifiers receiver. measured bit error (BER) forward correction (FEC) limit.
